The Kerem Tunnel allows for a an experience that is unique in terms of hiking and riding.
The Kerem Tunnel, the first cycle tunnel in Israel was opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around Jerusalem, Israel's capital city.
The tunnel runs along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza route. The tunnel's southern entrance is below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be located in Nahal Ein Kerem.
The opening ceremony of the tunnel, which is 2.1 kilometers long, was held in Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze’ev Elkin Mayor Moshelion, Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Avi Baleshnikov (Gihon water company chairman of the company) along with hundreds of cyclists.

I invite you to ride your bicycles on a scenic and well-maintained road that overlooks Old Jerusalem.
Elkin's Ministry, Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 to the project. The work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority.
Elkin said that the Kerem Tunnel project was a key tool in realizing the vision of shifting the idea of transportation in Jerusalem. Elkin stated that the new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will join existing bike trails. The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s to relocate its main sewer line towards the Sorek purification plant.

The work currently in progress includes road construction, installation of blowers, as well as advanced security and electrical systems in order to ensure that the tunnel is secure for people to walk through all year round.
The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to exclusive recreation areas for instance Ein Kerem, a neighborhood which includes a Biblical aquarium and zoo and ancient natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
